Church of the Visitation of Our Lady, Wooden religious monument in Horní Houžovec, Czech Republic

The Church of the Visitation of Our Lady is a small octagonal timber church on a sandstone base in Horní Houžovec. Its eight-sided tent roof ends in a lantern with an onion dome, and a rectangular timber sacristy adjoins one side. A bell tower with a tent roof rises from the sacristy's saddle roof; the walls are boarded and the roofs shingled, with the date 1871 on the sacristy cornice.

A wooden church dedicated to the Visitation of Our Lady stood here around 1800, probably on the site of an earlier structure from 1730. Dendrochronological analysis dates the present timber building to 1864. The cornice of the sacristy bears the date 1871. In 2013 the roof covering was impregnated, and a building-history survey was prepared in 2014 for repairs the following year.

The church is a filial church of the Roman Catholic parish of Ústí nad Orlicí, in the Orlickoústecký vicariate. Its interior keeps partly preserved clay plaster with illusionistic paintings and a flat ceiling. The date 1871 is inscribed on the cornice of the sacristy.

The church is located in Horní Houžovec village within the Ústí nad Orlicí District and can be reached easily from the village center. Visitors should note that it functions as an active place of worship where services may affect access times.

The building is registered as a cultural monument with the heritage designation number 45175/6-3938 in the Czech national register. This official status highlights its value as a surviving example of 19th-century rural religious construction and craftsmanship.
