Church of Saint John the Baptist, church in Čechy pod Kosířem
The Church of Saint John the Baptist is a baroque-style church building with long, narrow proportions and a gently curved wooden ceiling. A tall tower topped with a pyramid-shaped roof and cross rises above the main structure, featuring clock faces on all sides.
The building was constructed between 1781 and 1794, replacing an older church that stood at the same location since the 1600s. A priest named Jan Červinka led the construction, and the completed structure features a classic design that fits naturally into the village landscape.
The church is named after Saint John the Baptist, a figure central to Christian faith and tradition. It serves today as a gathering place where locals mark important religious holidays and family celebrations, making it the spiritual heart of village life.

Inside, there is a painting of the Baptism of Jesus attributed to the famous Viennese painter Franzi Anton Maulbertsch. The church also contains an underground baroque tomb complex for the Silva Tarouca family that had to be relocated due to rising groundwater in the early 1900s.
