Church of Saint John of Nepomuk, Catholic church in Hluboká nad Vltavou, Czech Republic

The Church of Saint John of Nepomuk is a neo-Gothic building erected in the mid-19th century on the site of an older sanctuary in Hluboká nad Vltavou. Its construction was prepared from 1844 under the princely builder Franz Beer, and the church was consecrated in 1847.

Building preparations under princely builder Franz Beer began in 1844, and the foundation stone was laid in 1845. The first bells from the castle chapel were hung on 2 September 1846, and Cardinal Friedrich of Schwarzenberg consecrated the church on 16 May 1847. A reconstruction took place in the 1990s.

The church is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk, patron saint of the Schwarzenberg family, who consecrated it on 16 May 1847. The bell tower holds a 1729 bell named Josef, cast by Jiří Václav Kehler in Budějovice, which was moved here from the chateau tower in 1846.

The church stands in Hluboká nad Vltavou, close to the chateau that dominates the town. The building was reconstructed in the 1990s, and its organ was repaired in 2016, after which an organ concert by Přemysl Kšica followed on 27 November 2016.

The smallest of the three bells consecrated on 12 May 1929, Saint Wenceslas, weighs 193.5 kg and bears the appeal "Do not let us perish, nor those after us!" in the jubilee year of the 1000th anniversary of the death of Saint Wenceslas, 929–1929. The set came from the R. Perner workshop and cost 28,322.45 Kč.
