Horní Dlouhá Loučka Castle, Renaissance château in Dlouhá Loučka, Czech Republic.
Horní Dlouhá Loučka is a two-story castle with a rectangular plan, defined by side wings, gable and mansard roofs. The original slate covering contributes to its distinctive Renaissance and later Baroque architectural character.
The Teutonic Knights acquired the property in 1623 and rebuilt it as a Baroque fortress between 1708 and 1709. Later it served as a military hospital during the Napoleonic Wars.
The grounds reflect a time when such estates served as centers of regional power, and their parks demonstrated the wealth of their owners.
The castle sits about 26 kilometers north of Olomouc and currently requires significant restoration work. Access may be limited due to its protected status and ongoing preservation needs.
A large park with trees from various countries was created in the 19th century around the castle to showcase the owner's reach and taste. This collection of plants from near and far made the estate distinctive in the region.
