Water tower in Jičín

The Water tower in Jičín is a stone structure built with Renaissance architectural elements, featuring a distinctive roof system and multiple levels. The building was originally designed for water storage and distribution throughout the town.

The tower was built in the mid-16th century and supplied water to the town through wooden pipelines. After 1907, a new water system was installed connecting Jičín to Studeňany, and the tower lost its original purpose.

The tower's name comes from its original purpose of storing and supplying water to the town. Today visitors experience it as an art gallery and wine bar, which gives this historic structure a new cultural role.
