Church of Saint Anne

The Church of Saint Anne is a Gothic church building with stone walls and timber roof, combining traditional architectural features from medieval Bohemia. The structure displays characteristic elements of the architectural style from that period.

The building was constructed as a place of worship during the Gothic period and survived the Hussite wars in the 15th century, while many other religious structures in the region suffered damage. Its survival through that turbulent time demonstrates the durability of the structure.

The church walls display Gothic paintings from the period of Master Theoderich, showing religious scenes that reflect medieval Czech artistic traditions. These works remain visible to visitors and offer insight into the artistic practices of that era.

Today the building functions as a cultural center with capacity for around 400 people during concerts, lectures, and public events. Visitors interested in entering the space should check in advance for scheduled programs.

The building has been enhanced in recent times with modern design elements, including steel components by architect Eva Jiricna. These contemporary additions create an interesting dialogue between medieval and modern architectural styles.
