Atmosférická stanice Křešín, Transmitter station in Křešín, Czech Republic
Atmosférická stanice Křešín is a research facility with a 254-meter-tall tower located in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands near Pacov. The tower stands at an elevation of about 535 meters and continuously measures air composition across the region.
The station opened in 2013 and was at that time the tallest newly built structure in the Czech Republic since 1989. With its tower, it established a new standard for atmospheric research infrastructure in Central Europe.
The facility contributes to international scientific collaboration through the European ICOS project and ESFRI research infrastructure networks.
Measurements at the station run continuously around the clock to capture fluctuations in air quality and greenhouse gases. Visitors should note that the location sits in hilly terrain and weather can change quickly.
The station works closely with the Moravian-Schoenbrunn Observatory and contributes to Europe's integrated carbon observation system. This cooperation allows researchers to compare air patterns across large distances and understand local variations.
