Koloděje nad Lužnicí Castle

Koloděje nad Lužnicí Castle is a two-story structure with a rectangular footprint, a central tower, and two wings set within the village. The elevated ground floor and compact layout create its distinctive silhouette.

The castle was built in 1567 as a Renaissance fortress and underwent major renovation between 1737 and 1741 when it was reshaped into a Baroque style. This transformation reflected shifting architectural preferences among its owners.

The chapel contains painted ceilings from the 18th century that reflect the artistic tastes of the residents who lived here. These decorations show how the inhabitants expressed their faith and style through the rooms they used daily.
