Chrast Castle is a château standing on the right bank of the Žejbro Stream, displaying architectural elements from different periods of Czech design. The building was expanded and modified across several phases, visible in the varied styles of its different wings.
The castle was built in the early 17th century by Albrecht Slavata and later transformed into a summer residence. It changed hands when the Bishopric of Hradec Králové purchased it in 1664, converting it to serve religious leadership.
The former castle chapel now serves as a concert hall, showing how the place hosts cultural events today. The main building holds the Town Museum, where visitors can explore objects connected to local history.
The castle sits roughly 11 kilometers southeast of Chrudim and connects well to the regional railway network. Visitors can explore the surrounding area using local paths and walks that run along and around the Žejbro Stream.
