Čimelice Castle, Renaissance château in Čimelice, Czech Republic.
Čimelice Castle is a stone building with balanced facades and classical details such as large windows and ornamental cornices across its exterior. The grounds are shaped by an English-style park that extends around the main building with diverse trees and vegetation.
The building was designed and constructed between 1728 and 1730 by architect Marco Antonio Canevalle, who applied Renaissance design principles to the project. After completion, it served as a residence and went through various periods of use and ownership over the following centuries.
The castle reflects the lifestyle of the family that built and maintained it as their country residence for centuries. The layout of rooms and grounds shows how the nobility balanced rural living with connections to nearby Prague.
The castle is situated near a railway line running between Prague and České Budějovice, with a local station providing easy train access. The I/4 road also connects to the site, making it reachable by car from the surrounding region.
The English park surrounding the castle was designed according to romantic ideals, setting it apart from the formal gardens typical of other country estates from that era. Its winding paths and natural plant arrangements create a deliberate contrast with the structured architecture of the main building.
