Kolešovice Castle

Kolešovice Castle comprises two main buildings known as the Old and New Castle, displaying different architectural styles from various periods. The older sections date back to medieval times, while later modifications added various influences that shaped the complete complex.

The original structure arose in medieval times as a fortified settlement for a local family. Over centuries, the castle was rebuilt and expanded, with the new structure added to meet the evolving needs and tastes of its owners.

The site served as a residence for local nobility whose daily lives left marks in the rooms and layout of both buildings. The way the two structures stand together reveals the preferences and needs of different generations who called it home.

Visitors can explore the exterior of the buildings and the grounds around the castle, with paths inviting walks through the space. The best time to visit is in dry weather, since the paths and outdoor areas are more easily navigable.

The two buildings did not arise at the same time, rather the newer one was added later to stand alongside the older structure. This arrangement shows how the site grew while preserving the original architecture without tearing it down.
