Zámek Nová Bystřice

Zámek Nová Bystřice is a stone château positioned on elevated ground with rectangular walls and several towers defining its form. The windows are distributed symmetrically across the facade, creating a balanced appearance.

The structure began as a medieval fortress and was transformed in the 15th century by the Krajíř family into a Renaissance residence. This conversion marked the shift from a defensive stronghold to an aristocratic dwelling.

The château displays construction techniques from different periods, reflecting the skills of those who built and reshaped it over time. Visitors can observe these methods in how the windows are arranged and in the stonework of the walls.

The building is currently in poor condition and needs significant restoration work on the roof, walls, and interior sections. Access may be limited due to the ongoing state of disrepair.

Inside, preserved ceiling paintings from the 16th century depict hunting scenes and geometric patterns in red ochre pigment. These rare artworks reveal the artistic tastes of those who lived here centuries ago.
