Château Trpísty

Château Trpísty is a baroque château in the Plzeň Region consisting of two pavilions connected by oval rooms on its east and west facades. The building displays ornate baroque architectural details and decorative elements throughout its structure.

Count Prosper Anton Josef von Sinzendorf commissioned the château's construction in 1729, replacing a medieval fortress that previously occupied the site. This project transformed the estate from a fortified medieval structure into an elegant baroque residence.

The main drawing room displays a large ceiling fresco showing the Sinzendorf family's apotheosis alongside scenes from the Ottoman Court. This artistic decoration reflects the wealth and international connections of the family who lived here.

The château is located in the village of Trpísty in the Plzeň Region and can be reached by road from nearby towns. Since the building remains in use, visitors should check access arrangements beforehand to confirm visiting hours and availability.

The formal garden contains a female Ginkgo tree dating from the 19th century. This ancient specimen is a rare element within the garden and adds to the special character of the historic landscape setting.
