Villa Čerych is a two-storey modernist house built in 1924–25 to designs by Otakar Novotný. Its five-axis main facade has a central entrance, a balcony above it and a triangular gable; the rear facade facing the water is eight-axis, with a massive stone balcony carried on pillars. The facade is of grey fair-faced brick, typical of Novotný's work of the period.

Vila Čerych was built in 1924–25 to Otakar Novotný's designs as a wedding gift from the industrialist Ladislav Bartoň of Dobenín to his niece Marie Bartoňová-Čerychová. The Čerych family lived there until 1948, when the house was confiscated; from 1949 it housed a regional political school, and from 1953 the district public health institute. Returned to the family in 1990, it was donated in 2001 to the Foundation for the Development of Civil Society and put up for sale in April 2021.

The villa was a wedding gift from businessman Ladislav Bartoň of Dobenín to his niece Marie Bartoňová-Čerychová, and the Čerych family lived here from 1925 until the 1948 confiscation. In 2010 Václav Havel's directorial debut Odcházení was filmed on the grounds. The garden laid out in 1925 by Josef Kumpán survives with its pool, fountain, gazebo and pergola.

The villa stands in a garden in the Úpa river valley in Česká Skalice; the protected grounds also take in a pool, a fountain, an altana, a pergola and the fencing. The house was offered for sale in April 2021 and the educational centre that ran it ended its work there in 2019, so check opening arrangements before travelling. The garden layout dates from 1925 and was designed by Josef Kumpán.

In 2010 the villa grounds served as a filming location for Odcházení (Leaving), the film directing debut of playwright and later Czech president Václav Havel. The house had by then passed through a regional political school, a district health institute and restitution to the Čerych family.
