Neherovská 8

Neherovska 8 is a functionalist villa featuring clean geometric forms, expansive windows, and a flat roof from the 1930s. The structure spreads across four levels, with a basement containing a swimming pool and three residential floors above.

Architect Ladislav Žák designed this house in 1938 during a period when functionalist architecture was gaining wider acceptance in Czechoslovakia. The building arose at a moment when this modern style was reshaping how people thought about residential design.

The villa reflects how Czech architects of the 1930s imagined modern living through clean design and practical spaces. Walking through it today, you notice how every element was planned to support daily routines and comfort.

The property is located in the Hanspaulka residential area and remains in private use, so interior access is limited. The exterior and facade are visible from the street, allowing visitors to observe the architectural style.

The west facade features an artistic relief by sculptor Stanislav Kolíbal that provides a textural contrast to the building's geometric severity. A garden fountain designed by Václav Cigler adds an unexpected artistic dimension to the outdoor spaces.
