Zámek Niměřice, Cultural monument and château in Niměřice, Czech Republic.
Zámek Niměřice is an L-shaped château complex with a main residential building, surrounding English-style gardens, and a Neo-Romanesque chapel dedicated to the Coronation of the Virgin Mary. The entire property is enclosed by stone walls and includes former agricultural structures arranged around the core buildings.
The château originated as a Gothic fortress built in the 14th century under King Charles IV. In 1832, it underwent a major transformation into a Classical-style residential building.
The château served as a gathering place for Czech artists and intellectuals during the 1800s. Composer Bedrich Smetana visited and found creative inspiration within its walls.
The property sits about 15 kilometers from Mladá Boleslav and is surrounded by protective stone walls that define its boundary. The main entrance is positioned to the right when approaching from the village square area.
Beneath the current château lie underground cellars and foundation walls from the original Gothic fortress. These buried remains reveal layers of construction hidden beneath the later residential additions.
