The structure was built around 1540 on the foundations of an earlier fortification and served as a noble residence for generations. A major transition occurred in 1663 when Volfartice was incorporated into the Horní Police estate, altering its importance and use.

The residence sits on elevated terrain and is best approached by taking the first eastward path from above where the main roads intersect. The hilltop location offers good sight lines from the village center, and the church tower serves as a helpful reference point when navigating.
