Dolní Břežany Castle

Dolní Břežany Castle is a Renaissance structure featuring symmetrical wings arranged around a central courtyard. The building displays classical Renaissance proportions with a carefully planned layout that reflects the architectural ideals of its time.

The structure evolved from a medieval fortress during the late 1500s and early 1600s through a major rebuilding campaign. Following its completion, it fell under the control of the Prague archbishopric and remained in their hands until the middle of the 20th century.

The chapel inside the castle grounds remains dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene, reflecting the family's religious commitments. This sacred space shows how faith was woven into everyday life within the residence.

The renovated castle sits near the central area of Dolní Břežany village and is easily spotted from the main roads. Visitors will find a well-maintained structure with straightforward access from the village center.

Directly adjacent to the castle grounds sits the HiLASE Centre, a modern research facility focused on laser technology. This surprising neighbor demonstrates how historical sites can coexist with cutting-edge scientific work.
