Liblín Castle

Liblín Castle is a Baroque structure with symmetrical proportions, tall windows, and ornamental stonework across its cream-colored facade. The complex comprises several connected buildings arranged around a central courtyard in the style typical of 18th-century Bohemian estates.

Italian architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi designed and built this castle between 1721 and 1725 on the site of an earlier Renaissance fortress. The estate was commissioned by nobleman Arnošt Josef Pachta as a statement of wealth and status during the Baroque period.

The Church of Saint John of Nepomuk sits within the castle grounds and was completed in 1751 alongside stone statues of three saints. These religious structures reflect the spiritual importance the property held for its original inhabitants.

The castle now operates as a social welfare facility managed by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and includes an on-site restaurant. Visitors can walk through the grounds and enjoy traditional Czech cuisine prepared with ingredients from nearby local producers.

The restaurant on the property sources deer from Hostýn and trout from Byšice, drawing from a network of nearby producers rather than distant suppliers. This connection to local farming creates distinctive flavors that reflect the surrounding region.
