The castle features high Baroque architectural elements with a symmetrical design, large windows, and decorative stone elements on its cream-colored exterior walls.
Italian architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi constructed the castle between 1721 and 1725, replacing an earlier Renaissance fortress at the request of Arnošt Josef Pachta.
The castle complex includes the Church of Saint John of Nepomuk, built in 1751, and three stone statues depicting Saints Joseph, Gotthard, and John.
The castle operates as a social welfare institution under the management of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic since the end of World War II.
The property maintains a restaurant serving Czech specialties using ingredients from local suppliers, including deer from Hostýn and trout from Byšice.
