Prostějov Castle, Renaissance château in Prostějov, Czech Republic
The stone castle features symmetrical Renaissance architecture with two floors, grand windows, and an inner courtyard within the city center.
Jan of Pernštejn constructed the castle between 1522 and 1526 as part of the town fortifications, followed by Renaissance renovations from 1568 to 1572.
The castle holds regular exhibitions about local history and serves as a central venue for municipal cultural programs throughout the year.
The castle opens daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, with guided tours available in Czech and English that cover both the interior and exterior spaces.
The castle walls contain preserved elements of the original medieval fortification system that once protected the entire town of Prostějov.
