Castle watermill

Castle Watermill is a Renaissance-style mill standing near the Otava River and displaying traditional milling equipment throughout its stone structure. The building preserves construction techniques from that historical period and receives official protection due to its cultural importance.

The mill was built during the Renaissance period, when it served to supply flour to the surrounding population. It remained an important part of the local economy and operated for several centuries.

The name reflects its position near the castle ruins, and visitors can still observe how water powers the mill today. The construction shows how such facilities were woven into the daily life and economy of the region.

Access is best during daylight hours, and visitors should expect some stairs and uneven floor surfaces inside. Sturdy shoes are practical since the ground is rough and spaces can be tight.

The original water wheel of the mill remains visible and partially functional, showing the early ingenuity of millers. Such fully operational systems have rarely survived elsewhere in this region.
