Skalákův mlýn, Historic mill building in Meziříčko, Czech Republic

Skalákův mlýn is a complex of reconstructed buildings along the Želetavka River, combining a teahouse, antiquarian bookshop, chapel, and guestrooms. The site brings together these different functions at a single location by the water.

The former Brázdův Mill was transformed into a cultural center after 1989 through the initiative of Miroslav Skalický and František Stárek. This conversion marked a new chapter for the building after decades of use as a production facility.

The mill draws people interested in poetry, underground music, and electronic sounds, creating a space for artistic exchange. Visitors find here a network of people engaged with alternative cultural forms and creative expression.

The site is located in Meziříčko along the Želetavka and offers regular access times. Visitors should check when specific areas like the bookshop or teahouse are open, as not all sections may be available at the same time.

The complex keeps growing without permits: the owners are in dispute with the building office, which opposes illegal structures built in the crowns of trees. The mill itself was acquired without its water motor.
