Vysoký Újezd Castle

Vysoký Újezd Castle is a manor house in the Beroun District of Central Bohemia that blends architectural styles from different periods. The building combines Baroque elements with Neo-Renaissance features, with the latter becoming more prominent following major modifications in the late 1800s.

A manor house was originally built on this site during the Baroque period, reflecting the taste and resources of its owners at that time. In 1897 the building underwent a major transformation, acquiring the strong Neo-Renaissance features that define its current appearance.

The castle served for many generations as the seat of the Schlick family, shaping the life and character of the surrounding area. Its architecture reflects how wealthy families expressed their status and refined taste through their homes.

The building sits about 10 kilometers east of Beroun in Central Bohemia, within reach of Prague's southwestern surroundings. Since it is currently under reconstruction as a protected monument, visiting access is limited and advance inquiries are recommended.

The Schlick family held sway over this property for nearly two centuries, leaving deep marks on the local landscape and community life. This extended period of family ownership tells much about how regional power structures evolved during that era.
