Strossova vila

Strossova vila is a two-story residence at Husova street 64 with pronounced cornices and railings that give it a ship-like appearance. The horizontal lines and stepped arrangements define its look from every angle.

A textile merchant named Franz Stross commissioned this house in 1923, though his family called it home for only a brief period. They left in 1938 as political tensions began to intensify across the region.

The house brings together multiple architectural styles into one unified form, showing how builders of the era combined different approaches to design. Walking around the structure, you notice how the forms flow together to create a new language of modern building.

The building sits on a lively street in the town center and is easy to see from the outside, though interior access is restricted. Visitors should know that the inside now serves as a government office and is not open for casual viewing.

The interior was fitted with multicolored marbles, opal glass, and precious woods that spoke of great wealth. Some of these costly materials remain and show the skilled craftsmanship of the period.
