Literátská škola, Renaissance school building near St. James Church, Prachatice, Czech Republic
The Literátská škola features a decorated attic with battlements and three robust columns supporting an eastern facade risalit with sgraffito artwork.
Built in 1557 against the Gothic city wall, this Latin school prepared students for university studies and maintained records of teachers since 1312.
The school building incorporated theatrical performances, as evidenced by documentation from 1561 when teachers and students practiced and presented plays.
Located at Děkanská 30, the structure retains its original layout with Gothic elements including a late Gothic portal entrance and ground floor vaults.
The building combines educational heritage with military architecture, incorporating parts of medieval fortifications while displaying Renaissance artistic elements on its facade.
