The château stands on the bank of Berounka River, featuring a symmetrical design with a central tower and baroque architectural elements.
The Knights of the Cross with the Red Star received this land in 1253 and constructed the original fortress, which later transformed into a château.
The château contains two renovated halls that maintain the traditional aristocratic interior design of the Czech noble residences.
The property remains closed to regular visitors, but the renovated halls accommodate wedding ceremonies throughout the year.
This château recorded the highest temperature in Czech Republic history at 40.4°C on August 20, 2012.
