Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, Roman Catholic parish church in Černice, Czech Republic

The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Černice is an early Gothic building founded in the second half of the 13th century. Its polygonal presbytery with buttresses, sacristy and nave vault date from around 1500. The main altar from 1696 holds a Gothic Madonna statue from the second quarter of the 15th century; the stone font is from the early 16th century and the organ from 1749.

The church was founded in the second half of the 13th century in early Gothic style. It was rebuilt three times in the 15th century: in 1410–1420, 1483–1491, and around 1500. In 1818 the tower was raised, the gallery enlarged, and the entrance altered. In 1845 a monstrance was stolen and found fourteen days later near Včelná.

The church is the parish church of the Roman Catholic parish of Černice. Its dedication to Saint Mary Magdalene is reflected in the main altar, which dates from 1696 and holds a Gothic Madonna statue from the second quarter of the 15th century. A side altar is dedicated to Saint Barbara, and the church retains a stone baptismal font from the early 16th century.

The church stands in Černice, in the Český Krumlov district of South Bohemia, with its walled cemetery beside it. It is the parish church of the local Roman Catholic parish, so visits depend on services; ask the parish beforehand. The building is a listed cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

In 1845 the church was burgled and a monstrance was stolen; it was found fourteen days later near Včelná under strange circumstances. The main altar, made in 1696, holds a Gothic Madonna statue from the second quarter of the 15th century.
