Dům U Červené lišky is a Romanesque palace on Old Town Square featuring a four-part facade with ground floor arcades and ornamental window surrounds. The top floor sits beneath a mansard roof adorned with busts of emperors in the attic section.
The building's structural foundations go back to the early 1400s during Prague's medieval growth period. Major rebuilding in the Baroque style around 1700 gave it the form you see today.
Inside, you will find a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the 1700s, which shows how religious figures were honored in homes throughout Prague. This type of religious artwork was a common way for residents to express their faith and connection to local traditions.
The ground floor contains a high-end restaurant where you can visit if you want to see the interior spaces. Making a reservation or visiting during regular hours is the easiest way to access the building.
Between 2018 and 2021, the building temporarily housed a museum featuring optical illusions and interactive displays that amazed visitors. This museum later moved to a different location, but many travelers still remember the experience.
