Lovecký zámeček Černice

The Černice hunting lodge sits at the southern edge of the Černická Obora woodland and features an unusual star-shaped ground plan from the baroque period. The structure combines the practical needs of a hunting retreat with the architectural forms of the 18th century.

The hunting lodge was built in 1793 and replaced a fortress from the 15th century at the same location. The noble family who commissioned its construction had close ties to Bechyně Castle and regional administration.

The lodge holds the status of a registered cultural monument of the Czech Republic and represents traditional hunting architecture of the nobility. Visitors can see how wealthy families expressed their passion for hunting through the building's distinctive design.

The lodge is accessible via road II/135, which connects Bechyně to Soběslav and passes near the Černická Obora woodland. The nearest train station lies about 2 kilometers away, making the site reachable by public transport with some planning.

The lodge sits directly beside one of Bohemia's oldest protected natural areas, which was established in 1880 within the Černická Obora hunting grounds. This early conservation effort shows how hunting territories were managed to preserve wildlife habitats from the start.
