Nový zámek Jevišovice

Nový zámek Jevišovice is a château featuring Gothic Revival design, with a distinctive tower and ornate sculptures adorning its main entrance. The building now operates as a residential care facility and is set within a park that remains accessible to visitors.

The château began as a wooden hunting lodge in the late 17th century but was later completely rebuilt and enlarged. These major changes took place primarily in the 19th century under the Ugarte family, who shaped the property into its current form.

The baroque sculptures at the main entrance show how aristocratic families displayed their art collections and taste. These works continue to shape the appearance of the place and reflect the aesthetic interests of their era.

The château now houses a retirement home, so access to the building itself is restricted, but the surrounding park can be visited year-round. The park is best explored during pleasant weather when the full setting of the property is visible.

A fire in 1937 damaged the château and revealed remnants of the original wooden structure beneath later additions. This discovery exposed how layers of architectural history had been built on top of each other.
