Císařský mlýn, Watermill in Čbán, Czech Republic.
The Císařský mlýn is a watermill in Čbán built from stone with timber framing on its upper walls. The main structure connects to a large wooden barn, and the whole complex sits along a stream that once powered the mill wheel.
The mill was built in the early 1800s and ground grain using a large waterwheel for over a century. It finally stopped working in 1965.
The mill demonstrates how people powered their work with water and built structures to house both the machinery and animals needed for daily operations. Walking through, you can see the practical choices reflected in the building's layout and materials.
The site sits a short distance south of the village and can be reached from the road connecting Úněšov and Manětín. Since it is a protected monument, check ahead to see if visits are permitted.
Two original grinding stones remain inside the wooden barn, showing how grain was once milled. A large walnut tree in the courtyard completes the property and gives a sense of everyday life around the mill.
