Jedlová Lookout, Observation tower in Lusatian Mountains, Czech Republic.
Jedlová is a stone observation tower standing 29 meters tall at the summit of Mount Fir in the Lusatian Mountains. It is built from local phonolite stone and offers views across multiple mountain ranges and the surrounding landscape.
Construction began in 1890 after Prince Kinsky granted permission and was completed in 1891. Local quarried stones formed the foundation of this mountain structure from that era.
The site takes its name from the fir trees that grow here and displays traditional Czech building methods from the late 1800s. It serves as a memorial to poet Friedrich Schiller and shapes how locals and visitors experience this mountain landscape.
The tower is accessible year-round through marked hiking trails, allowing visitors to come in any season. Winter brings additional opportunities for skiing on nearby slopes in the surrounding area.
The structure was an engineering project of its time and drew attention as an important viewing point in the region. Visitors still encounter the original stonework today, sourced from local quarries.
