Husův dům, Cultural monument in Kavčí plácek, Hradec Králové, Czech Republic

Husův dům is a three-storey modernist building on an irregular plan at Kavčí plácek, with a rounded corner and a terrace above the slope. Its first two floors are divided by two engaged quarter-columns in the high order with Ionic capitals and fluting. A flat frieze above the second-floor windows bears the relief inscription "HUSŮV SBOR". A cross-shaped turret from 1914 stands at the northwest corner of the roof.

The house took its name from John Huss, a 15th-century Czech reformer whose ideas shaped religious and national identity in the region. The name was given to this building to honor the importance of this historical figure to local history.

The name Husův dům was adopted in 1915, on the anniversary of Jan Hus's death. The former garden gave way to a chapel, today the Rokytova exhibition hall. A dark polished granite plaque with gold lettering marks the 1864 birth here of poet Adolf Černý, who wrote as Jan Rokyta.

Husův dům stands at Kavčí plácek 1, on a slope with a terrace above it, in central Hradec Králové. The former garden site now holds the chapel, today the Rokytova exhibition hall. The building has served as a school and offices since 1961 and is a cultural monument from 1987.

The tower in the northwest corner of the roof dates from 1914 and is built on the plan of a regular cross, with shallow projections on its main axes and segmentally curved recessed faces. Above the second-floor windows a flat frieze carries the raised inscription "HUSŮV SBOR".
