Šimsovo sanatorium, Healthcare sanatorium in Krč, Czech Republic.
Šimsovo sanatorium is a complex of several villa buildings spread across parkland, featuring both historicism and Art Nouveau architectural styles. The group of structures includes various buildings with different facades and interior spaces designed for medical purposes.
The first two buildings were begun in 1893 by Emil Pavlikovský and later developed by Dr. Jan Šimsa as a nerve treatment center. The main building Vita Nova was added in 1909 and completed the overall complex with its distinctive Art Nouveau features.
The place takes its name from Dr. Jan Šimsa, who established a nerve treatment center here and shaped its character. Visitors can see how the elegant villa buildings reflect the connection between healing and design from that era.
The complex sits within parkland that provides a quiet setting easy to explore on foot. The site now functions as part of Thomayer Hospital and retains its medical purpose, so certain areas may not be open to the public.
The main building Vita Nova displays in its facades and interiors details that reflect medical practices of the early 20th century. These design elements show how architecture was specifically used for healing purposes of that time.
