Church of the Transfiguration

The Church of the Transfiguration sits on Kršovec hill at approximately 500 meters in elevation and features a single nave with two side chapels and pilaster-decorated gables. The Baroque structure displays solid workmanship with straightforward architectural lines.

The building was constructed between 1763 and 1765 from plans attributed to architect Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer, replacing an older chapel that previously stood at this location. This construction followed a period of growing Baroque church building in the region.

The site has long held spiritual meaning for visitors seeking quiet reflection on the hilltop. Its role as a pilgrimage destination shaped how people experienced this remote location throughout centuries.

The building is currently inaccessible, with its entrances sealed shut, so only the exterior can be viewed. Access is via a marked hiking path located about 300 meters from Pacelice village.

A hermitage site existed here during the 17th century, long before the current structure was built. This early spiritual use reveals the enduring importance of this location as a sacred place.
