Letohrádek Kamýk, Garden pavilion ruins on Kamýk Hill in Osek u Rokycan, Czech Republic
Letohrádek Kamýk is a garden pavilion ruin perched on a rocky hilltop near Osek u Rokycan. Today, two outer walls with four windows each remain standing from the original structure, which once measured roughly 14 by 10 meters at its base.
The pavilion was constructed in the first half of the 1700s under the Nostic family, who owned the estate at that time. Abandonment followed in 1774 when the land passed to the royal court chamber.
Before the pavilion stood here, the hilltop served as a gathering place where locals sought protection from illness through religious symbols. The location held spiritual meaning for the surrounding community long before it became a leisure retreat.
You can reach this spot by following the blue-marked hiking trail from Osek, which winds uphill through the surrounding countryside. The path is well-marked and moderately graded, making it accessible for most visitors.
The pavilion once sat near water and could be reached by boat from the Podzámecký pond, a journey that ended when the pond was drained in 1814. The local ironworks closure meant the water system was no longer maintained, changing the landscape dramatically.
