Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, Cemetery chapel in Nová Paka, Czech Republic

The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows is a single-nave cemetery chapel in Nová Paka with a semicircular presbytery to the south and a massive prismatic tower added in 1765. The organ was built by Ignaz Tauchmann of Vrchlabí. Near the chapel stand two statues from 1771: the Virgin Mary of Sorrows and Christ as Ecce Homo.

The town cemetery was founded in 1625, and a small chapel on the site was replaced by the present chapel between 1700 and 1709. A storeyed tower was added in 1765, and the chapel was renovated in 1867 and again at the end of the 20th century. It was declared a cultural monument in 2006 and now serves as the town's ceremonial hall.

The chapel now serves as the town's ceremonial hall for weddings and funerals. Near it stand two statues carved in 1771: one of the Virgin Mary of Sorrows and one of Christ as Ecce Homo, both tied to the site's dedication.

The chapel is located near the cemetery and is easily reached on foot, especially when approaching from the town center. Its elevated position provides good orientation points for visitors moving through the area.
