Penitence cross of Šimon Nitzka

The Penitence Cross of Šimon Nitzka is a granite marker standing in rural countryside near Ostrolovský Újezd. The stone bears inscriptions that record a formal settlement made between disputing parties long ago.

The cross was erected in 1577 to mark a reconciliation agreement reached between a wrongdoer and the family of the injured party. These stones show how justice systems of that era sometimes involved negotiated settlements between individuals.
