Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, Religious chapel in Slavošovice Bolešiny, Czech Republic

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is a village Empire-style chapel with a rectangular plan and a three-sided apse, built in the first third of the 19th century. Its entrance front has an open porch on four columns with a triangular pediment, two niches and a memorial plaque to local men killed in World War I. A small bell tower with a lantern sits on the roof ridge.

The chapel was built in the first third of the 19th century as a village Empire-style chapel, after the village had been surveyed for the imperial stable cadastre. In 1923, with the founding of the local volunteer fire brigade, a fire pond was created on the village green next to the chapel. It was restored in 2022 and reconsecrated on 17 June 2023 for the 100th anniversary of the Slavošovice fire brigade.

Mass was held regularly on the Sunday after the feast of Saint John of Nepomuk, the first Sunday after 16 May. The chapel forms a set with a memorial cross standing nearby. In 2023 it was reconsecrated for the 100th anniversary of the local volunteer fire brigade.

The chapel stands on the village green of Slavošovice, beside the memorial cross and the fire pond laid out in 1923. It is a small village building, so expect to view it from the outside; the entrance porch with its four columns and triangular gable faces the open square.

The chapel forms an ensemble with a memorial cross standing close by, and its front porch carries a plaque to local men killed in World War I. Two niches in the porch once held statues of the Virgin Mary, according to local memory.
