Hradiště Vraclav, Medieval hillfort in Vraclav, Czech Republic.
Hradiště Vraclav is a medieval hillfort situated on a prominent promontory near Vysoké Mýto, containing remnants of defensive structures and settlement areas from that era. The archaeological complex spreads across several levels with visible earthwork remains and excavation sites.
The fortification became significant as a strategic point along the Trstenická trade route, where archaeologists discovered Byzantine coins and Czech denars from the 11th century. These finds confirm the site's importance as a trading hub of that time.
The Church of St. Nicholas holds wooden polychrome sculptures from 1740, depicting figures larger than life that were crafted by students of M.B. Braun. These works reflect the artistic traditions connected to this place.
The site is managed by the Regional Museum in Vysoké Mýto, which displays exhibitions about local history in a former spa building. Visitors can explore the grounds and examine the preserved structures on location.
Beneath the church flows a spring with mineral-rich water containing sulfur and potassium that once supplied a spa facility. Patients came here for treatment of various conditions until 1880.
