The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Sychrov is a late Baroque sandstone work dated 1782 and attributed to Martin Ignác Jelínek. The 1.7 m figure in clerical dress stands on a 2.1 m three-part pedestal with volute capital, its base inscribed "Obnoveno 1897". It stands on a slope below the Chapel of the Virgin Mary in the village's northeastern part.

The statue honors a 14th-century priest who became a martyr after refusing to reveal royal secrets. His memory was later spread across many regions of Europe through similar representations.

The statue reflects the strong Catholic influence in Czech lands, where depictions of this saint commonly appear at places of religious importance. It belongs to a widespread tradition of placing protective figures throughout the countryside.
