Nová vodní elektrárna Háj

Nová vodní elektrárna Háj is a hydroelectric power station situated along the Morava River, equipped with two Francis turbines. The turbines sit above an artificial water channel on the left bank and supply electricity to the surrounding region.

The power station was built in 1922 to replace an old mill that once stood on the site. This development represented the shift from traditional milling to modern electricity generation using alternating current technology.

The architects embedded wave-like decorative patterns into the building's facade to symbolize water and energy transformation. These ornamental details give the industrial structure an artistic quality that goes beyond its practical function.

The facility has six inlet gates controlled by electric motors that manage water flow to the turbines. Visitors should know this is an active industrial site and access may be limited depending on operational needs.

The central control hall preserves original marble switchboards with brass elements dating from the building's creation. Large factory windows flood this space with natural light, creating a surprisingly bright working environment for an industrial facility.
