Vojnice

Vojnice is a Renaissance château in the Czech Republic with two single-story wings arranged in an L-shape. The western section features arcaded corridors and cross vaults, while a preserved park with various structures completes the complex.

A fortress from the 14th century was transformed into a Renaissance château in the 17th century under the Branišov family. This conversion marked a shift from military to residential purposes.

The Branišov family shaped the estate during the Renaissance with their architectural vision. The grounds showcase regional building traditions through pavilions, glasshouses, and wooden structures that remain visible today.

The château building has been converted into residential apartments and is not open to the public for visits. The surrounding park can be viewed from outside, offering a glimpse of the historical complex.

In 1698, the peasants of Vojnice killed their lord Václav Vojslav of Branišov in a rare documented uprising against nobility. This event stands as a significant example of local resistance against feudal rule.
