Tylův domek v Třeboni

Tylův domek is a two-story residential building situated at the edge of the historic center of Třeboň, overlooking the Golden Canal. The house features two rectangular windows and a decorative medallion relief on its facade.

The house became the residence of Josef Kajetán Tyl, a major Czech cultural figure, who stayed here in 1856 at the invitation of local patron Vojtěch Zítek. During his brief time in the town, the dramatist left a lasting impact on local cultural life.

The building displays a medallion with a laurel wreath honoring Josef Kajetán Tyl, a prominent Czech dramatist and writer. This place became a symbol of the connection between Czech literature and the town of Třeboň.

The house sits on Tyl Street, easily accessible on foot from the town center and situated near the Golden Canal for a pleasant walking environment. Visitors should note that the street is paved and offers a good route through the older quarters of town.

A single-seed hawthorn tree growing beside the house is over 200 years old and has been documented by the Botanical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. This rare specimen is a botanical oddity that many visitors overlook while exploring the site.
