Holy Trinity column in Rájec, Religious Baroque monument in Rájec, Czech Republic

The Holy Trinity column in Rájec stands on the town's central square as a stone monument carved with religious figures and detailed sculptures. The work shows careful craftsmanship with intricate details that appear different depending on where you stand around it.

Josef and Anna Chrastil of Rájec paid for the column in 1892, and sculptor Josef Kubitsek of Starý Maletín carved it. Dean Vincenc Tesař of Zvole blessed it on 5 July 1894, the feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius. Restored in 1999–2000 and again in 2020, it was declared a cultural monument in 2003.

The column sits at the heart of Rájec's public life, where locals and visitors pass by daily as part of the town rhythm. Its religious imagery reflects the Catholic faith that has shaped this region for centuries.

The monument stands freely on the public square and can be viewed from all sides during daylight hours without restrictions. Its central location makes it easy to walk around and observe the carved details from multiple perspectives.

The column is carved from Maletín sandstone, not local Moravian stone: the sculptor Josef Kubitsek came from Starý Maletín, where this sandstone was quarried. A gilded sheet-metal sun with a dove, the Holy Spirit, crowns the group above God the Father and Christ.
