Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a Baroque sanctuary in Klokoty with a rectangular layout and a bell tower positioned on the slope above the main structure. The building combines elements from different periods and reflects how the place developed over time.

The church was built in 1488 but stands on foundations dating to 1383 from an older sacred site. Between 1735 and 1739 it received Baroque holy stairs that shaped its present appearance.

The interior displays religious artwork and decorations that reflect Catholic traditions of the region. The furnishings tell of the community's faith and their connection to the church's role in local life.

The church sits on a hillside above the village and can be reached by several paths. Visitors should be aware that it involves a climb and the terrain can be uneven, especially in bad weather.

The bell tower was completed between 1490 and 1493 and served as a timekeeping signal for local miners. The bells announced when work began in the nearby mining shafts and were an important part of daily life in the village.
