Church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary, Religious monument in Křimice, Czech Republic.

The Church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary stands on Hornička hill in Křimice, Plzeň. It is a single-nave Baroque church with a classicizing Baroque design by František Maxmilián Kaňka and an Empire facade with a prismatic tower added in 1844–1846. The flat-ceiled interior has an early Baroque main altar and a Renaissance side altar dated 1610.

A chapel stood on the site by 1385, reportedly founded by the Plzeň burgher Martin Bláha Nyssl before a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The present building began in 1656 as a late Renaissance chapel built under the will of Jan Jindřich Strojetický. In 1713–1714 František Maxmilián Kaňka rebuilt and enlarged it, and in 1844–1846 an Empire-style remodelling for Jan Nepomuk Karel of Lobkowicz added the west tower and turned the crypt into the family tomb.

The church serves as the family tomb of the Křimice branch of the Lobkowicz family, and the last burial there took place in 2008. Above the entrance portal the family motto is inscribed: "POPEL JSEM BYL, POPEL JSEM, POPEL I BUDU" (I was ashes, I am ashes, I shall be ashes). The sandstone statues on the enclosure wall depict St Isidore, patron of farmers, St Notburga, patroness of servants, St John and St Paul.

The church stands on Hornička hill about 1 km southwest of Křimice Castle, with the Křimice–Vejprnice road running just south of it. A path of stone slabs circles the building inside the elongated four-lobed enclosure wall, whose gates now open on the north and west sides. The church is still used for religious services and as the Lobkowicz family tomb, so visits should be timed around services.

The interior has a flat ceiling, not a painted vault. Above the entrance, the facade carries the Lobkowicz motto "POPEL JSEM BYL, POPEL JSEM, POPEL I BUDU" (I was ashes, I am ashes, I shall be ashes). The church has served as the family tomb of the Křimice Lobkowiczs since 1844–1846; the most recent burial took place in 2008.
