Export Dreher Brewery

Export Dreher Brewery is a large industrial building with red brick facades and sandstone ornamental details spanning multiple floors. The structure displays characteristic late 19th-century architecture and retains its original external form today.

Built in 1898, this facility became one of the largest and most modern brewing operations in the Austria-Hungarian Empire. The state took control of it in 1948, marking a shift in its purpose and operations.

The brewery represents Žatec's deep roots in hop processing and beer making, traditions that continue to shape the town's identity today. Visitors can see this heritage reflected in the old structures and surrounding hop fields that define the local landscape.

The building sits on Chomutovská Street and can be viewed from the outside, where the red brick facade and stone details are clearly visible. Interior access is limited as restoration work is underway.

The building blends neo-renaissance design elements with functional industrial architecture, using local sandstone and regional construction techniques. This fusion of artistic design and practical engineering makes it a distinctive example of its era.
