Chapel of Saint Anne

The Chapel of Saint Anne is a religious building in Čihák with an octagonal floor plan and a saddle roof topped by a sanctus tower. The structure displays Empire-style architecture and was constructed in the 1800s to create a focal point for the surrounding community.

The original chapel was founded in the 15th century, but the current structure dates to 1830 and reflects Empire-style architecture. This rebuilding transformed the site while maintaining its role as a center for religious practice in the area.

The chapel is named after Saint Anne and serves as a gathering place for worship in the village. Pilgrims walk the Way of the Cross to reach it, creating a rhythm of devotion that still shapes how the community uses the space.

The chapel can be reached by following the reconstructed Way of the Cross path that connects the village to the building and provides clear direction. The path itself is part of the experience and works best during quieter times like early morning or late afternoon.

Next to the chapel stand three crosses and an artificial cave carved from basalt rock, known locally as the Tomb of God. This small ensemble offers a deeper glimpse into how the community expresses its religious beliefs beyond the main building.
