Kostel svatého Kiliána, Romanesque church in Davle, Czech Republic
The Saint Kilian Church features a rectangular nave with a three-sided presbytery and a prismatic tower situated at the front facade.
The church, first documented in papal registers in 1352, suffered extensive damage during the Brandenburg invasion of 1278 and underwent early Gothic reconstruction.
The interior contains a Baroque altar from 1725 with paintings of Saint Benedict, Saint Procopius, and sculptures of Saint Joachim, Saint Anne, and Saint Kilian.
Located at the end of Davle along the main road to Slapy, the church offers parking spaces directly by the road after passing through the village.
Archaeological research revealed remains of Romanesque masonry dating back to the mid-12th century, making it older than previously thought.
