Kostel svatého Kiliána

Saint Kilian Church is a Romanesque church in Davle featuring a rectangular nave, a three-sided presbytery, and a prismatic tower at the front. The building combines different architectural phases that developed over many centuries of use and modification.

The church first appears in papal documents in 1352, though archaeological evidence shows Romanesque masonry from the 12th century exists beneath. The building underwent significant reconstruction and changes following damage in medieval times.

The interior features a Baroque altar with religious artwork and sculptures that tell stories of local faith practices over time. These artistic elements show how the church has served as a center of spiritual life for the community across generations.

The church sits at the edge of Davle along the main road toward Slapy with parking available nearby. Since the building has limited visiting hours, it is helpful to check accessibility in advance before making a trip to see the interior.

Excavations uncovered Romanesque masonry from around the 12th century that predates the earliest written records about the church. This discovery reveals that the building is older than anyone expected from the historical documents alone.
